Try to see the situation in a different way. Often, angry thoughts don't make much sense when we think more about them. Some words are bound to make you angrier. Absolutes like ALWAYS, NEVER, SHOULD, and OUGHT are more likely to make you angry because they make you expect more.

Example: Your parents ask you if you took your epilepsy medicine this morning.

• Appropriate thought: “My mom is just watching out for me and trying to help me with my epilepsy management.”

• Inappropriate thought: “She is always a nag and never trusts me.”
